Eddie Van Halen, among many others, credit Steve Hackett as a big influence on their playing. He is a founding member of Genesis and stayed with the band until 1977. His band will be performing the Genesis album, “Foxtrot” in it’s entirety at The Wilbur Theater in Boston on October 12(2023) to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary. Mike Hsu talks to him about how it sounds now compared to when Genesis played it in the early 70’s, what the term “Progressive Rock” means to him, and how he believes listeners will come back to full albums.
